Fortune Fencing epeeists headed south from Monrovia on Sunday, October 18, 2026, for the San Diego Senior Cup #2 at San Diego Fencing Center, and Lucas Parra led the way with a top 16 finish.

Lucas finished 13th of 51 in Senior Mixed Epee, fencing against adults. He won four of his five pool bouts, including a 5-3 win over the eventual winner, then took a 15-14 thriller in the table of 32 before falling 12-15 in the table of 16.

Club members David Yi and Wei Zhang fenced the same event, and it was Wei’s first tournament on record. It is always great to see our adult fencers out on the strip alongside our juniors.

The same afternoon in Santa Ana, Ethan Escala reached the semifinal of Senior Mixed Epee at the OC Division event at SCFC and finished tied for 3rd of 5.

Sundays like this start in our training room in Monrovia, where beginners and competitive fencers share the same floor and families come in from Arcadia, Pasadena, Duarte, Sierra Madre, and Azusa.

Next up for Fortune is the AFM Super Regional at the Santa Clara Convention Center, October 23 to 25.
