Like any other motor movement , I had my son trained at 7-years-old to fence (from gross movements to fine movements ) — because I desperately needed a sustainable therapy to cure my son’s increasing symptoms of attention-deficit syndromes. Fencing worked! My son had a great line of dedicated coaches and I am grateful to them all. He’s 11 now (pre-teen) and the encouragement is necessary from peers — Fortune has given Ian friendships and Ian’s strip coach (Zeyad) uses the parameters of the sport to train concentration, focus, and patience. The pedagogy of fencing is Fortune’s strength: Coach Emara serves a platform for coaches’ clinics, and Coach Zeyad coached collegiate fencing. The Fortune coaches are educators and fulfill the fencers’ schooling through socio-emotional development and cognitive-behavioral health. My son has had beautiful bonds to all of his coaches in different gyms, but Fortune as a community took us into their home when I became a single-mom.
I heard about Fortune Fencing from the radio and wondering if it’s too late for my 13 years old son to start learning fencing. I took my son to try the class anyway . Coach Z is very nice and professional, he told me it was fun and he liked it. Now he moved to the competitive class. I’m glad to see all his efforts and improvements. It has boosted his confidence a lot too. Both Coach Emara and Coach Z are very attentive and professional, they will make sure everyone gets their skills improved based on their level. I’m glad that my son liked this new sport and made big progress. I’m live in city of walnut, but I’m willing to travel a little far to this place as long as my son enjoys it.
My two boys have been learning fencing for 3 months. We take both private lessons and group classes. The coaches are great and provide feedbacks on how my kids are doing. I love how the different exercises help the kids improve on their skills and reflexes. Highly recommend!
